When suburbanites Rick and Marcy attempt to salvage their foiled vacation plans, they are plunged into a series of unexpected adventures triggered by a motley assortment of characters: their wannabe actor son and hamster-obsessed daughter, an obnoxious neighbor, a coercive client and a gang of mobsters hell-bent on getting their hands on a set of priceless jewels they suspect is hidden in Rick's and Marcy's home.

In 1734, Jean Luc de Montigny sails to New France to settle his uncle’s estate and escape the haunting memories of the brutal murder of his wife and daughter.
